Lisa Molyneux

My name is Lisa Molyneux and I've been working as an Artist in Cincinnati since 1990 when I moved here with my husband, Steve Nelson, and our daughter Abby.  I was born and raised in Albany, New York.  We love Cincinnati and have made it our permanent home.

I have been painting as long as I can remember.  Until four years ago my work was considered representational.  I began to fall in love with he work of the German Expressionist and slowly my own work became more and more abstract.  My paintings tend to be large and I believe that is due to the nature of my full-time job.  I am currently in my 14th season as the Scenic Artist at the Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park.

Background

I received Bachelor degrees in Art and Theatre from the State University of New York at Geneseo.  l  I received a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Design from the Ohio State University.  I am a member of IATSE, local 274.

Selected Exhibitions & Awards

I received two Hammy awards in 2000 for my two pigs entered in The Big Pig Gig.

I am proud to be a member of the Cincinnati Playhouse Team that was awarded the 2004 Tony Award.

I have been involved in several public art projects as well as showing my work in local Cincinnati Galleries.
