Art is an integral part of my life.  When I paint, I strive to connect with my subject visually & energetically to capture the spirit of the person or place.  Primarily I work with oils, but I also enjoy pastels.    My three areas of focus are landscapes, pet portraits & collage work.

Landscape painting:

One reason I love “plein air” (on location) painting is that I am able to connect with the landscape on a visceral level as I work to portray the light & spirit of each location.  When I work from photo reference, I choose to use my own photography so that I can remember being there as I paint.  It is my hope that you, the viewer can also share the experience through my work. 

Pet Portraits:

I love painting animals & pets because they look at you without pretence.  No worries about their hair or physical beauty.  Animals don’t worry, people do!  Usually I work from photo reference supplied by the owners, with a studio visit by the subject mid way so that I may adjust the color and get to know them better.

 Collage:

Sometimes I choose to “play” with collage and create objects or decorate furniture.  It’s all about allowing my intuition to interact with materials to create something of beauty.  At times I take recycled frames and create unique collaged frames for my more abstract paintings.  This is when my “magpie spirit” takes over & the glitter comes out!
 

As an artist, Marion works in a variety of mediums and loves both landscapes and portraits. A graduate of Columbus College of Art & Design (BFA, Advertising) and Wright State University (MA, Art Therapy), Marion's paintings have been shown locally at Essex Studios, the Cincinnati Art club and are in both private and corporate collections. Marion is an active member of the Cincinnati Art Club.
